GENERAL HISTORY OF PROJECT:
The Devon Lift Station and Force Main Project is the culmination of many years of work to find a viable means to convey all excess flow (storm and ground water) from the Cook County portion of the village to the upgraded Bittersweet Water Reclamation Facility (BWRF) for treatment.

The overall project includes the construction of a new lift station that would handle all the excess flows from Cook County and the flows from that portion of DuPage County; a 2-mile-long force main from that lift station to the BWRF; and finally the demolition of the existing lift station and excess flow facility at Devon.

Due to the project size and scope of work, it was determined that the project would be divided into two phases, so a separate contractor can focus on the portion of the project in which they specialize. One contractor will focus on the lift station construction and demolition and the second contractor on the installation of the new gravity and force main to the BWRF. The projects were awarded to the contractors on May 16, 2023. The estimated construction of the entire project is approximately two years.
