ELECTRONIC SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS FOR BUILDING PERMITS

1. Should construction documents be 36”x48”, 30”x42”, or 24”x36” and more than six (6) pages, two hard copy sets of files shall be submitted to the Planning and Development Services Department as part of the permit application in addition to the electronic submittal.  

2. Three (3)  hard copy sets of all engineering plans (regardless of size) shall be submitted to the Planning and Development Services Department as part of the permit application in addition to the electronic submittal.  

3. All uploaded files must be unlocked and unprotected. 

4. All plans shall be submitted as PDF documents created with a program that meets ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 32000 standards for PDF creation. Scanned plan sheets will not be accepted (unless hand drawn).  JPG documents will not be accepted. 

5. PDF documents shall include vector content and TrueType fonts (3/32” minimum height at full scale.). 

6. All plans shall be oriented so no rotating of sheets is required.

7. The scale of the drawing shall be stored and embedded in each sheet of the plan set. Plans must be drawn to a standard scale to allow for plotting. 

8. All content shall be flattened to remove layering or comments/mark-ups. 

9. Thumbnails for all plan sheets must be labeled to clearly identify the sheet number and the content of the sheet. Example: G1.0 Title Sheet, A1.0 First Floor Plan

10. Plan sets must be submitted as a single document; however, no single file may exceed 50 MB. Very large plan sets may be submitted in sections sorted by discipline (i.e. architectural, structural, mechanical). Zip files will not be accepted. 

11. File names shall be descriptive of the content (i.e. 123 Main St. - Architectural Plans.pdf)
