The Apollo 11 Moon Landing

On July 20, 1969, NASA’s astronauts, mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin, became the first Americans to land on the moon. During this Bartlett Public Library program, historian Jim Gibbons will discuss the space goal proposed by President John F. Kennedy in 1961, as well as the full day Armstrong and Aldrin spent on the moon’s surface. Gibbons will also discuss how the Apollo 11 mission launched an important part of American history.
