Chicago's Sweet Candy History

Did you know Bartlett resident Otto Windt (1904-1981) was a vice president and chief candy technician for E.J. Brach & Sons and that he is credited with developing the Chicago confectioner’s Pick-A-Mix concept? In addition to Brach candies, Chicago’s long candy history includes Baby Ruth, Snickers, Jelly Belly and more.

The Bartlett History Museum invites you to learn about and sneak a taste of the city’s sugary history. Leslie Goddard, historian and author of  “Chicago’s Sweet Candy History” (the book will be available for sale that evening) will share more than 200 years of candy history through memorabilia and photographs.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments. At 6:45 p.m. there will be a presentation on Otto Windt and Goddard’s  program begins at 7 p.m. Registration is required for this free presentation. Please call 630-837-0800 or email Bartlett History Museum Director Pam Rohleder, prohleder@vbartlett.org with your name, phone number and number attending.
