In honor of Asian-American Pacific Heritage Month and the celebration of the 8th year of the Sister City relationship between the Village of Bartlett and Miaoli, Taiwan, Arts in Bartlett is hosting two special Taiwanese exhibits by artisit Jenny Chi in downtown Bartlett during May and June.
The May/June exhibit "Classical Perception" comprises drawings by Chi at the Bartlett Village Hall 2nd floor gallery, 228 S. Main Street. At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, 5/19, there will be a free reception with light refreshments for Chi at the Village Hall gallery. No reservations are required.
The artist also is exhibiting paintings in the Arts in Bartlett gallery, 215 S. Main Street and there will be a special cultural event at Arts in Bartlett on the evening of 5/19, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Chi is currently a professor in the art department at Eastern Illinois University, where she teaches courses in painting and life drawing. Inspired by the human figure, she paints in a style reminiscent of the old masters, conducting a personal, sometimes rather sly dialogue with the Italian Renaissance in particular.
The Village Hall exhibit is free and open to the public during regular Village Hall hours: Mon - Fri 8:30 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. & Sat, 9 a.m. to noon. For more
