Walk for Peace
Play for Peace will host its third annual 5k Walk for Peace and World Peace Day Celebration at the Bartlett Nature Center. The family-friendly event brings children, youth and adults together for the fundraising walk that helps support Play for Peace Clubs in Chicago and around the world.
The World Peace Day Celebration coincides with celebrations around the world in honor of the United Nations’ International Day of Peace. It includes music, face painting, cooperative games, an international food festival, a silent auction and display booths hosted by community organizations. The event is supported by children, families, business owners and community leaders from nearly 20 communities, including Bartlett and neighboring Lombard, Schaumburg, and West Chicago.
In 2015, walkers are encouraged to form teams with their coworkers, friends and families to walk and raise funds. This year’s Walk for Peace is expected to increase participation by 50 percent.
