The Tri-Village Garden Club of Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood meets at 7 p.m. at the Poplar Creek Public Library in Streamwood, on the third Wednesday of the month. Non-members are always welcome. At the August meeting, Nancy Carroll will present "Hummingbirds: Our Flying Jewels."
Carroll is a master gardener, a landscape and garden designer and a lecture speaker appearing on Naperville TV channel 17 and a garden speaker on WGN. She also is a member of The Hummingbird Society as well as the Illinois and National Audubon Societies.
Carroll will share many interesting and fascinating facts about hummers.Those colorful, iridescent little bundles of energy are some of the most enjoyable and amazing birds to observe in nature. Learn how to identify different species, what to plant in a yard to attract them and information about feeders. For fun, the speaker will also provide ideas about making hummingbird art, other whimsical ideas, and terrific handouts and give-away items. Who wouldn’t want to have rubies and emeralds in their garden?
