The Tri-Village Garden Club of Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood meets at 7 p.m. at the Poplar Creek Public Library in Streamwood, on the third Wednesday of the month. At the May meeting, Gregg Walter gives his presentation on the “World of the Honey Bee.”
With more than 10 years of experience as a beekeeper and the purveyor of Harbor
Honey, Walter has learned a fascinating array of information which he conveys in a
lively presentation. He actually brings a hive (without bees).
The humble
honey bee plays a crucial role in our fragile ecosystem. The universe the bees live
in is unlike anything you've ever seen. Come join Walter as he lifts the lid on the hive and gives you an amazing tour of its
occupants and activities. He will share a little history, an
introduction to the different types of bees and the variety of jobs they perform. Be
prepared to learn such tidbits as "How many flowers does it take to make a pint of
honey?" He will take lots of questions.
