Tri-Village Garden Club (TVGC) will host guest speaker “Aunt V,” Veronica Porter, from Ask Aunt V. A Naperville native, Porter will demonstrate hands-on cooking techniques using organic vegetables. Her presentation will take place on Wednesday, 8/14 at 6:30 p.m. at Arts in Bartlett, 215 S. Main St. The event is free and open to the public.
Porter shares her experiences by educating and strategizing for healthy, organic, heirloom gardening, farm to table integrity, cooking, preservation and living life in a responsible, sustainable manner. She is a third generation organic farmer, chef, culinary instructor and food educator for home and garden. Porter is a licensed chef and hold a master’s in organic urban farming and gardening.
TVGC represents gardeners from Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood. The club hosts most monthly meetings at the Streamwood Fire Station #31, 1204 S. Park Ave., Streamwood. The meetings are held the third Wednesday of the month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Meetings are free. Gardeners are welcome to join the club by paying annual dues and actively participating in various activities hosted by the club. Monthly meetings usually feature a guest speaker. The club also offers garden-related field trips, a member garden walk, community service projects and a food pantry garden and community gardens maintained by members. Community gardens are located at Bartlett Library, Bartlett Gazebo, Hanover Township and Rahlf’s Woods Park in Streamwood.
