10/18/2023 - PROGRAM IS FULL - THERE IS A WAITLIST FOR THIS EVENT
For decades, Christmas in Chicagoland meant a trip or two to State Street to see the big department stores, like Marshall Field & Co., that went all-out for the holiday. Using photographs, ads, postcards, menus and other memorabilia, "Christmas on State Street" by Leslie Goddard highlights the history of the cherished holiday traditions, from the animated window displays and the Christmas parade to beloved characters like Uncle Mistletoe, the Cinnamon Bear and of course, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Goddard's illustrated talk is on Wednesday, 11/1 at 7 p.. at Bartlett Village Hall. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments with a pre-program by the museum, "A Christmas Tree for Bartlett," at 6:45 p.m. Space is limited and registration is required for this free Bartlett History Museum program. Email prohleder@bartlettil.gov with your name, phone number and number attending.
