Alice Paul: Winning Votes for Women

  • Date: 08/12/2020 7:00 PM
  • Location: Virtual Presentation via Zoon
Join the Bartlett History Museum for a free virtual presentation as Leslie Goddard, Ph.D., portrays suffragist Alice Paul, one of the most dynamic leaders in the fight to win votes for women. An innovative and tireless worker, Paul arranged parades, organized the first picketing demonstrations outside the White House, lobbied politicians and endured imprisonment for women’s suffrage. She authored the Equal Rights Amendment in 1923, which has yet to be adopted.

The Q and A portion of this program will provide an opportunity to discuss how Paul’s singular focus on electoral equality separated racial equality within the suffragist movement.

Attendees must have a free Zoom account prior to the free presentation. Registration is required and limited to 100 virtual attendees. To register email Pam at prohleder@vbartlett.org. The Zoom link will be emailed to each participant after registration.
